ForeRunners
ForeRunners are defined as those who are credentialed ministers in good standing with a retirement status. Over 2,000 members strong, these vibrant individuals and their spouses have unique life experiences, strengths and a contribution to the kingdom.
We are so grateful for the legacy established by the mothers and fathers of our Foursquare family who carried the torch of the gospel around the world then and now. In fact, many of our ForeRunners continue serving their local Foursquare churches through many capacities—as assisting pastors, counselors, chaplains, mentors or coaches, international missionary support, and in valued volunteer positions. We believe our ForeRunners are living the best times of their lives.
These sage individuals provide a resource community that is positioned to assist our district supervisors and local churches in passing the baton of ministry and leadership to a new generation.
“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing.”
—Psalm 92:12-14 (NKJV)
Connecting our ForeRunners
This ministry was transferred to the district offices with the intent of expanding its focus and involving more ForeRunners in its leadership. Each district has a ForeRunner point person who is responsible for connecting with ForeRunners, building teams for care, and partnering with the district office to see that this rich gift is used in various points of district and local ministry, such as serving in district camps and conferences, transitional pastor appointments, mentoring young leaders and more.
