How to get it
As a human, I’m very aware that I am flesh and blood. I get tired. And I get hungry. And when I get tired or hungry, I can get grumpy.
As a pastor, I seek to root people in the ways of Jesus, including having healthy relationships with God, others and self. Sometimes, my pastoral office fails to get the message across to my human reality, and I feel the tension and famine that are early signs of danger.
Pastors are people, too, and if we fail to steward our own souls, minds, bodies and emotions, we will fail to complete the wonderful task that Jesus has given us. Jesus won’t fail, but our participation and fruitfulness will inevitably be cut short.
How can we prevent this from happening in our lives? How should we handle stress? How can we not only survive, but thrive in our journey?
Pastors are people, too, and if we fail to steward our own souls, minds, bodies and emotions, we will fail to complete the wonderful task that Jesus has given us.
Foursquare’s healthy leader initiative is developing ways to connect and protect leaders in the three relational realms of God, others and self. In this Studio session, recorded live at Foursquare Connection 2015 in Anaheim, Calif., Foursquare leaders David Ross, Paul Kuzma and Chuck Shoemake, along with Catherine Hart Weber, Ph.D., unpack this framework and offer practical ways to assess our current health.
They also give suggestions on how to move forward as healthy leaders, enjoying our work and our walk.
