Our kids are bombarded with sounds, images, values and activities that vie for their attention. Many of these influences can lead them astray. But with the J12 Pre-Teen Curriculum and corresponding resources, parents, youth workers and pastors will have exactly what they need to “reach a generation before they need to be rescued."

The pre-teen years are an incredibly formative time for students, when they are beginning to exercise some independence and are also barraged with images, ideals, values, activities and cultures that vie for their attention.

We, as parents, pastors and student ministry leaders, are entrusted with the great responsibility to help our young people head into their teenage years, and subsequently their adult lives, well grounded in the teachings, character and purposes of Jesus Christ.

J12 was founded in 2002 by Gregg and Jessica Johnson with the focused task of “reaching a generation before they need to be rescued.” The ministry is based on the example we are given by Jesus Himself in the Gospel of Luke, in the only story shared of Jesus’ life between His birth and the beginning of His public ministry at age 30.

When Jesus was 12 years old, His parents returned to the temple to find Him, according to Luke 2:46-49: “sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, ‘Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.’ And He said to them, ‘Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?’ ” (NKJV).

J12 offers a solid biblical model that provides a culture based on the value of family, the importance of tradition and repetition in learning, the need for a strong identity in Christ, and the importance of integrating service into our Christian walk. The J12 curriculum comes with a fully loaded interactive video series, all of the teaching resources you’ll need, and learning tools designed to engage your students and equip your leaders.

Additional resources, such as the Bedroom Bible College and specialized journals designed to equip students for their personalized Bible study, are also available on the J12 website.

Whether you are looking for a full curriculum for the pre-teen ministry at your church, or just looking for some valuable tools to help resource your own 8- to 12-year-old child’s devotional life, J12 has something to offer you.
