Hope Community Church (University Place West Foursquare Church) in Tacoma, Wash., is seeking a part-time church administrator. We are a small but mighty church community that loves to worship God and build relationships with each other and our neighbors. We currently meet at the Star Center in Tacoma on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. and gather in various places throughout the week. Hope Community Church is looking for an administrator to join our committed team! We need an organized and resourceful self-learner who is able to manage deadlines and communicate clearly while maintaining systems of organization that keep our team and church running smoothly.

Job Title: Church Administrator

Hours: Part-time, 10 hours per week

Pay: $15-17 per hour, dependent on experience

Required Hours:
Thursday: 8:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. (Zoom or in person)
Sunday: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (in person)
Flexible 5.5 mobile hrs completed ea week

Who you are:

You are detail-oriented, organized and able to handle multiple tasks with composure. You enjoy collaboration and are also resourceful and able to take initiative to work autonomously and with integrity. You will be the central administrator and liaison between our community and our lead pastor. You are a smiling and welcoming face at Hope Community Church on Sunday mornings. You do not need to be a person of faith to apply for this job, just kind, good with people and highly administrative.

Your typical week:

  • Providing administrative support for lead pastor, worship and kids’ leaders
  • Attending weekend and midweek services and monthly reporting to denomination
  • Communication – Answering email inquiries and sending welcome emails
  • Calendar management – All Church, Staff + Lead Pastor
  • Database management – Planning Center Programs
  • Managing Sunday volunteers and reminders via Planning Center Services
  • Ordering office and worship service supplies
  • Coordinating group meetings (location, time, and meals, if needed)
  • Creating slides via Canva for announcements
  • Website and social media updates with announcement slides and event calendar
  • Welcoming and offering assistance to in-person visitors as they arrive
  • Acting as point person for upcoming baby dedications or baptisms
  • Coordinating monthly guest speaker and hospitality for guest
  • Periodically coordinating and executing assigned duties for church events
  • Assisting the lead pastor and other staff in various admin projects as they arise

Job Requirements

  • At least 1-2 years of administrative experience
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new programs as necessary
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A warm and friendly demeanor
  • Composure and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
