Aimee Semple McPherson is one of the most recognizable names in 20th-century Christianity. Her impact on American culture and the global church is undeniable. But until now, many of the riches of over 20 years of preaching and writing have been untapped due to inaccessibility.

That changes with the release of The Collected Sermons and Writings of Aimee Semple McPherson, a three-volume collection that presents a vast selection of Sister McPherson’s works in chronological order. These sermons, prophetic words, letters, songs and teachings were compiled from the archives of The Foursquare Church and provide a view of three main focuses of Sister Aimee’s ministry: baptism, speaking in tongues and God’s healing touch.

This great resource is a way for all of us in the 21st century to engage with the prolific and powerful work started in the early 1900s through a farm girl from Canada. You can read the sermon based on Ezekiel 1, preached in January 1923, in which Sister McPherson outlined the Foursquare Gospel. Going back to 1906, there is a record of the young Aimee Kennedy’s letter to the newspaper, tackling the issue of evolutionary theory, which still dominates today’s educational systems.

There is much wisdom in the writings that have been preserved and now presented for any who want to mine the riches of Foursquare’s history. Amidst the treasure trove are some “Question and Answer” sections on tongues, and divine healing, which highlight the clear, biblical, practical style that exemplified Sister McPherson’s teaching. Such articles not only are instructive in content, but also could prove helpful in encouraging believers today to speak with boldness and authority on the foundation of the Scriptures.

Whether you’re a pastor, a scholar, a student, a historian, a local Foursquare church member or a believer interested in the heritage of one the most vibrant movements in Christianity in the last century, these three volumes capture the voice and legacy of a pioneer of the modern Pentecostal/charismatic movement, and offer insight and instruction to a whole new generation of Christians.
