How to get it
From the outset of our movement, the intentional discipleship of children has been key in our ministry endeavors.
Children need to be won to Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit, and we were exhorted by Jean Darnall during the Monday night prayer meeting at Foursquare Connection 2015 in Anaheim, Calif., to renew the vision for children to be born again.
With this renewed commitment comes a need for new strategies to prepare, and join with, our children as followers of Jesus in their predominant context—the education system. As secular culture has become more dominant, it has impacted the environment in our schools, and many believers have felt the growing tension of following Jesus in an increasingly hostile world.
When we look at the operation of the church, we see many parts working together. It should be the same in terms of working alongside our children. Even as they know the Lord, they are not equipped yet to deal with all the complexities of the schools they spend most of their weeks inside.
But, if we consider ways to join with them in reaching the mission field of faculty and students, the balance shifts. The church includes our children—they are to be salt and light in the world, and parents are perfectly positioned to operate together with them.
Topics covered include how to start Bible studies in schools, engaging children with evangelistic tools and commissioning them as “sent ones.”
During this Connection Studio, recorded live at Foursquare Connection 2015, Lesli Klingenmeier, Jerrod and Jennifer Wagner, Matthew Agosto and Ron Crandall offer insights gained through years of working with kids and parents to form “kid-vangelists.”
Covering topics such as being a present parent, how to start Bible studies in schools, engaging children with evangelistic tools and commissioning them as “sent ones,” the panel offers plenty of practical information for parents and youth workers.
Passing the faith to the next generation must include equipping them to be disciple-makers. By the power of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, the next generation can start the mission today.
