Foursquare Foundation Announces Grant Awards
24 Ministries Will Share $1.6 Million to Win more than 600,000 Souls
By The Foursquare Church
The Foursquare Foundation, which exists to accelerate high-yield evangelism efforts, has released the names of 24 ministries that will share $1.6 million in ministry funding--the largest quarterly distribution of grant monies to date.
The announcement of these awards represents a powerful new milestone for the Foundation. But, it also represents a benchmark for each individual ministry too--recognition of their track record of success in accelerating high-yield evangelism. Dr. Greg Campbell, executive director of the Foursquare Foundation, announced the Foundation's fourth-quarter grant recipients.
"The Foursquare Foundation is honored to be partnering with organizations like these. Each grant recipient has a demonstrated passion for sharing the Gospel," says Campbell. "Each funded ministry is working hard to reach a large group of people in culturally compelling ways. It is our privilege to encourage their work."
The Foundation is pleased to present the grant recipients for the fourth quarter:
National Foursquare Recipients:
- Lubbock Youth REACHOUT: Link Ministries will reach out to elementary, junior high and high school students living near the ministry's skate park and recreation center. With plans to hold skate demonstrations in city parks and to start after-school programs at the skate park, Link desires to build bridges of faith through relevance to the 92 percent of unchurched students in the area.
- Charlotte Urban Outreach: Grace Covenant Church is working with WOW JAM to train more than 600 volunteers to evangelize Charlotte's inner city. The program will also plant a new church, strengthen its discipleship training, and reach out to the local immigrant population with the Gospel. Partnering with 25 area churches, Dare to Care takes its efforts to four of Charlotte's roughest regions to bring communities filled with gang violence and drug activity the message of the Gospel through neighborly love.
- Metro Kidz Outreach Site Project reaches into Los Angeles' toughest neighborhoods to evangelize gang members and their families. Some 1,000 kids and 4,000 family members will be reached each week.
- WOW JAM/Central Valley will engage and train 250 team leaders and 1,500 volunteers to reach some 20,000 people through 10 WOW JAM events. Funding from the Foundation will allow for additional church partnerships and added outreach events.
- Turn to Jesus Project, Mozambique Eastern Tete Province is a ministry of Apex Foursquare Church (Hope Chapel). The project will include 10 outreaches into the Tete and Angonia districts of Mozambique. Some 25,000 people are projected to accept Christ as a result of these outreaches.
- Inner-City Florida: St. Petersburg Foursquare Church (Gateway Christian Center) is working with WOW JAM to reach the poorest inner-city communities in St. Petersburg, Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville. The project will hold 23 neighborhood parties reaching some 30,000 people over a four-week period. Each party offers practical help such as giving away groceries, serving hot meals and providing haircuts. Powerful Gospel messages are also given with each event ending in a baptism service.
- A Wave of Hope: Katrina Outreaches: WOW International will bring its evangelistic ministry to the thousands living in towns devastated by Hurricane Katrina or in trailer camps as a result of being displaced by the storm. WOW will train missionary teams from across the U.S. as well as local-area church workers. The ministry will reach 50,000 people through a series of 30 WOW JAMS, providing practical and spiritual ministry to Katrina's victims.
Foursquare International Pilots:
- Evangelism Teams will train young missionaries from Brazil, Uraguay, Paraguay and Bolivia in the practical aspects of evangelism. Working with student teams, these missionaries will be supporting the efforts of established Foursquare churches and church plants to introduce 15,000 people to the Lord.

This youthful group, which makes up 37.5 percent of Central America's population, will have a major impact on their nation in the coming years, and, if the ministry reaches its projection of 10,500 souls won for the kingdom, will impact generations to come.
- Living Springs Outreach Evangelism Concerts and Leadership Training Project trains small group leaders to facilitate evangelism through music and drama at free special concerts. Personal one-on-one follow up is an important element of this ministry's goal of facilitating 2,200 decisions for Christ.
- Evangelism and Sowing of Churches in the Puna Archipelago shares the Gospel--by boat--with 400 people in each of 10 different towns by incorporating multiple evangelistic methods. Discipleship is integral and is followed by steps to reproduce the efforts and consolidate groups to form new churches. This is expected to win 1,200 souls for the kingdom.

- Evangelist Reachout Honduras works through existing Foursquare churches to not only evangelize, but effectively disciple, baptize and integrate new believers into a local church so their faith can grow and mature. Evangelism efforts will take place in 46 locations to reach and disciple 20,000 people.
- Achieving Our Nation serves the spiritual needs of Argentina's socially rejected since 1986. With 20 aid centers already established, the goal is to plant new ministries in 23 provinces to train new believers, emerging leaders, and raise up Foursquare pastors in order to reach 330,000 people.
