Foursquare General Supervisor Tammy Dunahoo, President Glenn C. Burris Jr. and the board of directors are pleased to announce that Rev. Dennis Easter has accepted an appointment as district supervisor of the Pacific Coast and Valleys District. His term of service will begin September 1, 2011.

Born and raised in Southern California, Dennis is a graduate of LIFE Bible College (now Life Pacific College). He is currently a doctoral candidate at George Fox Evangelical Seminary; his area of study is leadership and spiritual formation.

In his 41 years of ministry, Dennis has served as a youth pastor, associate pastor, co-pastor, and senior pastor. In 1985 he became the senior pastor of the Horizon Foursquare Church in Ventura, Calif., where he served until February 2000.  The attendance grew to more than 500, and the congregation planted two daughter congregations. Dennis also served as a divisional and regional superintendent during that time period.

In January 2000 Dennis became the supervisor of the South Central District. As he led the district in the multiplication initiative, he pioneered and implemented a leadership development program called Focusing Leaders. Following that assignment, Dennis returned to California to develop and lead the Church Health Initiative; he also chaired the Educational Commission.

Prior to being appointed supervisor, Dennis was senior pastor of the Portland, Ore., Foursquare Church, an assignment he accepted in 2005.

Dennis is a strategic thinker and a gifted communicator.  He has been married to his wife, Patsy, for 42 years; they have four adult children and eight grandchildren.

General Supervisor Tammy Dunahoo affirmed the selection of Dennis Easter and added: “Dennis and Patsy have a long record of rising to the challenge of various ministry assignments. I have no doubt that they will continue to serve with the same degree of excellence that has marked their more-than-four decades of ministry.” She expressed gratitude to the district council and divisional superintendents for their wisdom and partnership in the selection process.

Speaking of his new assignment, Dennis stated: “Patsy and I are both honored and humbled by our selection to serve in this role. We are committed to leading to the best of our ability; we will gladly invest our time and energy and resources into the pastors and churches so that, together, we can see the kingdom advanced.”

Please pray for the Easters and the pastors of the Pacific Coast and Valleys District as this transition occurs.
