If I have a school of ministry at my church, do I have to apply for certification?
No. A Foursquare Church can operate a school of ministry without certification. All Foursquare Bible institutes, however, should be certified.
What is the purpose of certification?
When a church operates a Bible institute, offering credits for classes, charging tuition and paying faculty, in the eyes of many states, it is operating a school. It then enters the world of education and must be careful to operate legally and safely. The certification process helps institutes operate accordingly. Also, certification sets standards that are the same across the nation. Thus, a supervisor on the East Coast can be assured that a graduate of a West Coast certified institute has had certain basic training. This makes it easier for graduates to be placed in churches outside of their own area. Certification also facilitates networking with other institute for the purpose of gleaning new ideas.
How do I get a copy of the guidelines manual for institutes and schools of ministry?
You may download a copy of the Institutes Start-Up Manual in PDF format and download a copy of the Handbook for the Operation of Foursquare Bible Institutes, Schools of Ministry and Church-based Bible Colleges from the Institutes Resources page. The national institute director and the staff of Foursquare Christian Education will assist you in the start-up process.

Can institute graduates be licensed as Foursquare ministers?
Graduates of a Foursquare certified Bible institute or certified school of ministry meet the academic requirements for international Foursquare licensing. The graduate may apply for international license once they have secured an appointment in a Foursquare church, completed an application and other required steps which may be explained by calling the Administrative Resource Center in your area.
If I want to start an institute or school of ministry, how far in advance should I plan?
