  •  Training Sessions: Practical ministry insight + Q&A

  • Introducing Holy Spirit Dynamics in Today’s Congregations

    • Presenter: Daniel A. Brown, Ph.D.
    • Description: Because ‘spirituals’ are often either overstated or overlooked, it’s difficult to introduce people to gifts of the Spirit as powerful-but-familiar ministry tools. Come hear thoughts for how to proceed sanely in an era when exaggeration and ignorance conspire against spiritual enablements in congregations.
    • Who Should Attend: Leaders who want church members to understand the purpose and use of spiritual gifts in ministry
    • Location: Convention Center, Level Three, Room 315
  • Empowered Environments

    • Presenter: Mike Kai
    • Description: Come ready to assess whether your church environment catapults leaders to their full potential or caps it off, and find practical steps for handling both situations. Learn the best ways to empower leaders around you, and how to avoid both the pitfalls of leaders who might feel entitled, and the plateaus of those who may be lax. Discover the rewards of empowerment—for leaders as well as those being led.
    • Who Should Attend: Senior pastors, key team leaders, executive pastors
    • Location: Convention Center, Level Three, Room 314
  • Transforming Community Through Partnerships

    • Presenter: Keith Jenkins
    • Description: Community transformation is too large of a task for any one organization—a church, a non-profit or a city agency—serving in a city. However, by leveraging the power of partnerships, the most seemingly insurmountable obstacles within any community can be removed, and community members can begin to flourish.
    • Who Should Attend: Ministry leaders, lay leaders and volunteers who work to see the gospel expressed in practical ways to meet the needs of those they serve in their communities
    • Location: Convention Center, Level Three, Room 317
  • The Church and Human Sexuality

    • Presenter: Jon Cobler
    • Description: The radical shifts in culture surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity have left many leaders in the church wondering how to respond. Many are wresting to find a basic framework to have a meaningful conversation. Are people born gay? Does sexual orientation change over time? Are there only six verses in Scripture that address homosexuality? Should a same-sex attracted person be allowed to serve in children’s ministry? Is there such a thing as a gay Christian? These are just some of the questions that need to be answered.
    • Who Should Attend: Those who desire a helpful paradigm for processing questions like these with insight from a handful of leaders who are engaged in these issues within the local church
    • Location: Convention Center, Level Three, Room 316A

    • Presentador: Jon Cobler
