SUMMARY: Love Finds a Home is the eighth and newest production of the complete Love Comes Softly video collection based on the book series of the same name by author Janette Oke. This DVD is the culmination of a storyline that entails the lives of a family breaking new ground in western territories during the mid-1800s, and focuses specifically on issues of prayer, God’s guidance, family life and faith.
This latest addition to the series—available as a single DVD or within an eight-disc set bundled “The Complete Love Comes Softly Collection”—illustrates the importance of turning to the Lord for guidance and answers.
Belinda Owens, a doctor, wrestles with her own faith and relationship with God as she searches for answers in the face of her infertility. She is confronted with her inability to have a baby as she assists her pregnant best friend from medical school, Annie, who is convalescing with Brenda at her home for the remainder of her late-term pregnancy.
Belinda comes to understand and appreciate another’s point of view as her traditional medical training often contrasts the knowledge of Annie’s mother-in-law, who is an experienced midwife. It is in the middle of relational conflict that Belinda learns that medicine alone is not able to provide an answer to life’s important questions.
Starring recognizable actors such as Haylie Duff, Patty Duke and Sarah Jones, this film, like each of the others in the series, is a quality production that is family friendly.
HOW TO USE IT: Love Finds a Home may be suitable for sermon illustrations or for movie nights in a church setting. This installment points to family values, unity, prayer and faith in God. Pastors and other church leaders will find these values are readily expressed throughout the entire series, which makes reference to “the Lord” throughout if not specifically to the name of Jesus.
